Tortola Sports Club Mission

Tortola Sports Club is a not-for-profit organisation. Its income is presently derived from membership subscriptions, fundraising and its bar and restaurant. It expenses are primarily the maintenance an upkeep of its facilities. The goal of Tortola Sports Club is to provide facilities to members, which are conducive to development of sport in the British Virgin Islands.

Our Goals

Tortola Sports Club provides recreational facilities, including tennis, squash, table tennis, aerobics, fencing and dance to its members, which are conducive to development of sport in the British Virgin Islands. Whist one of our goals is to provide such facilities as part of the fabric of the community, bringing together people of different cultures in a social and sporting environment, Tortola Sports Club is also committed to providing these facilities to our youth. In particular, all of our facilities are open, free of charge to each youth living in the British Virgin Islands on a daily basis from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm through programs that we have offered to all schools, both private and government, in the Territory. In addition Tortola Sports Club runs active tennis and squash junior coaching programs throughout the year.

Ten Year Plan

Tortola Sports Club is committed over the next ten years to develop its facilities to such an extent that they are considered the best sporting facilities in the Caribbean.

The ten-year development plan has been split into four stages. Stage 1 will be the building of a new clubhouse, completed in September 2003. Stage 2 will be the building of a two additional glass back squash courts and the development of gym facilities, commenced in March 2004. Stage 3 will be the building of three new tennis courts and an extension to the clubhouse for additional indoor facilities such as table tennis, and Stage 4 will be the development of a running track, swimming pool, badminton court.

Where We Are

Tortola Sports club is located in the centre of Road Town and is therefore conducive to attracting sports men, women and children from a thriving local population. It is the only Sports Club in the British Virgin Islands that provides racquet sports facilities specifically to the local population and a Club atmosphere for relaxation after sport. It houses the only Squash Courts in the whole of the Virgin Islands. With its central location and significant land resources for development, it can become the pre-eminent sports facility in the Eastern Caribbean.

Management

The club is managed by an elected commitee and governed by the Board of Trustees. The elected committee at the present time is as follows:
